Trauma-Informed Approaches for Educators

Trauma impacts students in profound ways, influencing their behaviour, emotional regulation, social skills and learning capacities. As educators, understanding the effects of trauma and how to respond in a supportive, informed manner can make all the difference in a student's educational experience and overall well-being. This one-day interactive workshop is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and practical tools needed to create a trauma-sensitive classroom.

Participants will explore the fundamentals of trauma and its effects on brain development and learning, as well as gain hands-on strategies to support students through trauma-informed approaches. The workshop emphasises building safe, predictable, and emotionally supportive classroom environments where all students can thrive. From understanding how trauma shapes behaviour to learning de-escalation techniques and creating self-care plans, educators will leave with an action plan for immediate application.

By fostering connection and safety this workshop will help educators build resilience in both their students and themselves, ultimately transforming the learning environment into one that promotes healing, growth, and academic success.
