Compass Seminars in partnership with The Theraplay® Institute brings a range of Theraplay® training courses and books/ resources to Australia.
Theraplay® is a short-term, attachment-based intervention utilising non-symbolic, interactional play to re-create experiences of secure attachment formation between parent and child. The interactive sequences are carefully structured by the practitioner to make possible the pleasure of being together and shared enjoyment in the child's mastery. These elements of shared positive emotions may be crucial in restructuring the attachment relationship towards greater organisation and security. Theraplay's® Core Concepts consist of interaction, here and now experience, adult guidance, attunement, right brain language, multisensory experience, and playfulness as well as the Theraplay® Dimensions of Structure, Engagement, Nurture and Challenge.
Theraplay® focuses on the parent/carer-child relationship which is the most powerful and influential element to create change. Other therapies may work primarily with the child alone or simply work with parents/carers on managing the child’s behaviours. Theraplay® is an essential treatment modality for professionals who work with children and families to have in their skill set.
"I highly recommend Theraplay. Based on principles of attachment, Theraplay enables parents and their children—of all ages-- to again experience reciprocal joy and interests, cooperation and delight. This provides them with safety and a sense of closeness which creates a context where ongoing conflicts and worrisome behaviors are likely to decrease."
Dr Dan Hughes
"Theraplay is a terrific treatment for disorganized and traumatized kids. I highly recommend your taking the training!"

“Play is a crucial way in which children can open their minds, strengthen their brains, and create spontaneous connections with others without judgement or fear. Theraplay is a time-tested approach that supports children's healthy development of resilience and well-being. Bravo for decades of nurturing children's lives!"
