Jeremy's Changing Family

A different perspective on foster families in our modern world, inviting the perspectives of the carer’s children.  The story is embraced by beautifully presented illustrations that capture the unique qualities of each character.  The strengths based approach to the foster family supporting Jeremy and the children in their care to understand, validate and resolve their differences, worries and anxieties as they learn to live together amicably.

When Jeremy’s family decide to become a foster family and start caring for children who cannot live with their own families, Jeremy becomes confused and worried. Jeremy’s family is changing and this is a story about how Jeremy learns to adapt and cope with his family being a bit different now but realising his family still love and care about him.

This story explores the worries, challenges and good times that children face when their family becomes a foster family.

Simone Collier is a Special Education Teacher with significant experience in working with children and families. Simone has worked in Out of Home Care in a number of Australian states for many years following a teaching career that included mainstream classroom teaching and working with children and young people with challenging behaviours, complex trauma backgrounds and mental health concerns.
